Whether you currently own your home or are looking to buy one, the experts at Church Foundation Repair recommend testing the sewer lines.
What is the hydrostatic testing process?
A hydrostatic test is performed to determine if an under-slab drain line leaks. Our technicians pull a toilet on the first floor in order to place a monitor in the line to observe the testing process. The drain line is then blocked (typically at the cleanout) with an inflatable test ball. The sewer lines are then filled with clean water and monitored for a period of 20 to 30 minutes. If the water level drops this indicates a leak somewhere in the system and a need to perform an isolation test. If the water level remains the same, the system has passed the test.
What is the isolation testing process?
Isolation testing is performed when a leak is known to be present. Church Foundation Repair uses isolation testing to identify all leaking areas within the sewer system. Isolation testing is similar to hydrostatic testing but on a smaller scale. Our seasoned technicians test small sections of the sewer lines to pinpoint the exact problem areas. One (or more) test balls are placed within the system in order to test small sections at a time and then monitored.
What about the toilets you remove?
All of our testing packages require us to remove a toilet for the procedure. Because of this, our testing packages include re-setting the toilet with new wax seals, caps, bolts, and re-sealing.
What testing packages does Church offer?
Interested in having a hydrostatic test performed? No matter what testing package you choose, we offer a 6-month estimate guarantee provided we make the repair.
Hydrostatic Testing
- This test tells us if there is or is not a leak present in an under slab sewer system.
- We do not offer any drawings or reports with this test.
Isolation Testing
This test is performed after a hydrostatic test if a leak was determined to be present and includes the following information:
- A leak detection report.
- A drawing of the home showing the location of the under slab drain lines.
- The drawing will include indicators of issues found during the test.
- A proposal to repair the issues found.
Camera and Draw
- This test can show us large cracks, separations or areas holding water.
- This test cannot detect small cracks and will not always find problem areas.
- There is no leak detection report provided with this test as we cannot always definitively attest there are no leaks present.
- This test does include a drawing of the under slab drain lines with notations of problems found.
